The article deals with the inventory of Lithuanian borrowed names ending in -ij- from the point of view of their origin. Names of Latin and Greek origin clearly predominate. They had a major impact on the Lithuanian stock of proper names. Names of other origins were rather variegated, but they did not make a large part of the total of proper names. The period leading to the independence of Lithuania clearly stands out as being the one with the greater variety of names. In addition, Russian influence decreased. The changes in the inventory of borrowed names ending in -ij- allow us to preliminary highlight the main features of the development of Lithuanian borrowed names during the 20th–21st centuries
